Crazyflie AI-deck is built around the GAP8 RISC-V multi-core MCU build for AI on the edge purposes. Adding to this is a QVGA monochrome camera and an ESP32 WiFi MCU. This all together creates a pretty good platform to develop low power AI on the edge for a drone.

The AI-deck 1.1 is still a early access product, so remember to post any question or problems you have on our forum in the AIdeck group or to check out examples / documentation on the Github Repo . AI-deck, Active marker deck and Lighthouse-4 deck. AI-deck: This is a collaborative product between GreenWaves Technologies, ETH Zurich and Bitcraze. It is based on the PULP-shield that the Integrated and System Laboratory has designed. You can read more about it in this blog post.

I want the AI deck to take a video. After that, I process it on the computer and control the Crazyflie flight. So, I would ask how I can access this video so I can process it? Also, can I save that video on my computer? I tried to trace the viewer.py file, but I could not discover so. Thank you.

Introduction. There are currently two versions of the Himax ULP camera used on the AI-deck. A monochrome and a bayer-RGB.If you would like to switch the camera type or change it because it is broken these instructions will guide you though it.

Build your own expansion deck and add to your Crazyflie 2.X. This post is about an expansion deck that makes the Crazyflie 2.0 more enjoyable (if that’s even a possibility).

The last issue is considered a corner case will only occur if the AI-deck 1.0 is pushed to its limit with a large deep neural network.

The ESP32 adds WiFi connectivity with the possibility to stream images as well as handling control. The last issue is considered a corner case will only occur if the AI-deck 1.0 is pushed to its limit with a large deep neural network.

Even-though the AI deck will soon be ready for early release, this piece of hardware is not for the faint-hearted and embedded programming experience is a must. But keep in mind that the possibilities with the AI deck are huge, as it will be mean that super-edge-computing on a 30 gram flying platform will be available for anyone. About a month ago we released the AIdeck 1.1, which has some slight upgrades and changes compared to the 1.0. Even though the AIdeck 1.1 is still in early access, we do see the number of support questions increase on our forum and in the issue list of the AIdeck example repo. Therefore we are planning to host an AI-deck getting-started workshop by the PULP lab on the 16th of April at 14:00 This is a color (Bayer RGB) camera module to exchange the monochrome camera module for, which comes with the AI-deck 1.1. The Crazyflie 2.X can have one or more decks attached, but there's limited resources.

2021-02-05 CrazyFlie AI deck is in early access, which means the hardware design is now finalized and full support for building, running and debugging applications (including GreenWaves’ GAPflow tools for porting neural networks to GAP from TensorFlow) is available however limited examples of specific AI Deck applications have been developed so far. The flow breakout board contains a VL53L0x ranging sensor as well as a PMW3901 optical flow sensor. It is the breakout version of the Crazyflie 2.0 Flow deck. The firmware for the DWM deck is included in the Crazyflie 2.0 firmware build (recent) and activated when the deck is attached. The deck contains a small memory that holds the address of the board as well as the addresses of the anchors it will use for ranging. More information on building the firmware and the firmware itself can be found here.
